We purchased a hard drive and a SATA cable for Z Series for a HP work station. We are having a problem with the wires. The red wire connects to hard drive with no difficulty. The red wire end seems to fit OK into the SATA Gen 3. There is s problem with the white wire end. We have tried connecting it to the 3rd internal USB port but the hard drive will not function. The white wire tip seems to only fit the 3rd internal USB port. The original hard drive connects to a cluster of wires which seem to originate from the main power port which has 3 hard drive connectors, none of which fit the white wire connector which fits the 3rd internal USB port. Any suggestions about how we should proceed would be appreciated.
